As with the first chapter, Avatar the Way of Water was amazing – visually striking as expected, but pulled me in emotionally much more than anticipated.
But, why, for the love of God, with the hundreds of millions of dollars they spent to make this movie, COULD THEY NOT PAY A DESIGNER TO COME UP WITH A BETTER FONT THAN PAPYRUS????

My friends and clients at The Island Wanderer wrote a lovely piece on Grow Your World Web Connections, that I am incredibly grateful for.
The Island Wanderer is a community blog in Bainbridge Island, WA that, as they say on the website, is “all about island living and other musings.” My wife and I used to live very near Bainbridge (she grew up there), and are still very connected to the area. It is a tight-knit community, that has always been very proud of where they call home. The Wanderer has become the place to go online for news, events, business info and human interest stories coming from the Island. Thanks guys!!
Check out a pretty interesting digest of everything that happens in one minute on the internet. The most surprising stat to me is the number of text messages that are sent… I would’ve thought there would be way more than the number they give!
I was in an online networking group for small farmers and agritourism the other day, and one participant remarked that they are “super busy with the new pictures we just put on the web.” They have touched on something that for many small business owners can be one of the trickiest parts of building their digital marketing strategy — having a pleasing visual presence and a professional look on your website.
Here’s a pretty good post on just what kind of skills you should have when you decide to build a site using WordPress. I don’t agree with everything 100%… for example I’m not recommending Gutenberg to my clients quite yet (I include the paid version of Beaver Builder in my Signature packages instead), but I agree that Gutenberg is here to stay. I might also move basic SEO, learning to use an SEO plugin, and Google Analytics up to “Beginner,” as these go to the heart of lead generation and spreading awareness of your business – usually the main reasons why you need a website in the first place.
Definitely worth a look!
Welcome to the new site for Grow Your World Web Connections, formerly known as Abell Smith Design! Stay tuned for much more from me on this big ongoing rebranding project, what prompted it and what I hope to accomplish. A big part of it is that I had grown tired of being living proof of the old adage that “a web developer’s worst website is their own,” so it was definitely time for a refresh 🙂
I’ve always considered myself pretty “low maintenance” when it comes to food. As is often the case in our microwave-world, for most of my younger years I was of the opinion that if a meal costs more than $5 and takes more than 4 minutes to prepare, it was too expensive and took too much time.
