Abell Smith
Owner, web developer
Abell Smith is a web developer with 10 years of professional experience, working with WordPress for most of that time. He worked mainly for golf nonprofits for the first several years, until hanging out his own shingle 3 years ago and taking on clients in many different fields. He has years of experience training clients to easily use the WordPress websites that he builds, and creates customized WordPress guides and video tutorials as well as giving in-person and Zoom coaching. He loves helping clients who have put so much blood/sweat/tears into their business or organization, but just feel they need a little extra help when it comes to their online presence. He does this by guiding them to new possible solutions to their web problems, for example, by creating everything from events calendars and contact forms to full eCommerce stores. He also does hosting migrations, WordPress Care Plans, and other online marketing assistance such as email newsletters and Google Business Profiles optimization.
Abell grew up in Seattle, and has lived most of his life in the Pacific Northwest. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Washington, and then ventured down to New Orleans for a few years to attend Tulane Law School. After returning from the South, he was a semi-professional newspaper cartoonist for a time, with work appearing in the Kitsap Sun. Along the way he discovered a love and knack for building websites, and he trained on this at Seattle Central College. Several years later he met the woman who would become his wife. In 2021 they decided it was time for a new adventure, and they moved up to the Vancouver BC area to be closer to her son during COVID.
Abell has experience in a wide variety of industries (nonprofits, law, active, creative), and has a wealth of knowledge to share with those who need assistance. His greatest motivator in the world is his own evolution as a person, and helping others who want the same for themselves. He has practiced Aikido for many years, and personal growth and health are huge parts of all his endeavors. He has taught adults and children, and loves the opportunity to pass on what he has learned.
Abell is a U.S. citizen, but has been granted a work permit in Canada and is in the process of securing Permanent Resident status. Then after that (someday), dual citizenship to have the best of both worlds!
